Orin Swift wines by winemaker Dave Phinney, have many fans. This maker of thick, inky, full throttle in your face, fruit forward wines is not for the fainthearted. As the picture a mummified 16th-century Cardinal in Palermo, Italy on the label proves. The 2017 Palermo Cabernet Sauvignon delivers as Swift wines do, big time.

Huge notes of black cherries, black berries, currants will blow your nose away. Additional hints of anise, vanilla and chocolate seven layer cake seduce you to indulge. The tannins and acid levels are in balance.

This wine does not disappoint. A perfect match to lamb chops. $50/bottle
