2013 Rombauer Vineyards Carneros Chardonnay, ABV 14.6%. This wine is considered the heavyweight of chardonnays. Big, chewy, buttered popcorn, fireplace and butterscotch notes. Either you love it or hate it. There is no middle ground here. At about $27 a bottle, this 2013 is aging well. It is starting to mature gracefully. The big trumpeting notes are starting to become muted and less provocative. The wine coats your mouth with thick luscious viscosity like that of the cream of a chocolate eclair explodes in your mouth when taking that first bite. The long warming finish places a layer of tasty creamy wine that coats your throat down to your stomach. Like an all day sucker. Delicious. The perfect match for a lobster dinner.
