MGM Grand Hotel. Heavy smoke smell in casino. Rooms need updating.  Lunch at Robert Irvine’s in the Tropicana hotel. $22 burger. Comes with chicken fried bacon slices and the works. Fries included. Get the cheese sauce on the side. It was a good expensive burger. Drinks at the Waldorf Astoria. Great skyline views. You can see the new Raiders stadium being built. It’s all black glass? Looks like a UFO finally landed in Vegas. Drinks are top of the line at the bar. Dinner at L’Atelier by Joel Robuchon. The new kitchen staff not up to par for this world renowned establishment. Some dishes were a miss. Scallops were smelly and inedible. Service was way off. But it is still a must eat at for us in Vegas. Sleep. Bouchon provided breakfast the next day. Expensive but always quality service and food. The pastries are top notch. Can’t seem to get a good tomato in Vegas this week though. The Wynn Hotel buffet was our lunch stop. $34 plus tax. Vegas did away with the lunch buffet. Now hotels all have a brunch buffet. They were loosing money on those paying the lower priced breakfast buffet price and staying to eat lunch. So now it’s brunch or dinner. The Wynn has the best buffet. It makes the Bellagio buffet the second best. A walk along the strip brings us back to the MGM. Dinner at the new Ambra restaurant. An amazing veal chop grilled with Marsala sauce $69 and a side of spaghetti $16 was overly salty. Total $110 with tax and tip for a chop and side! Then of course a slice of the best banana cream pie in the country next door at Emeril’s Restaurant to wash it all down. Hey it’s Vegas baby. Vegas!
