I have tasted my second 100 point wine two weeks in a row! I have to buy a lottery ticket. The odds of this happening are far and few between. Last week a 100 point white wine, and this week a FFWJ 100 point red wine. The 2016 Sinegal Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley at $88. I would call this wine a Meritage because it is a blend. California rules state that a wine must have at least 75% Cab Sav grapes to be called Cab Sav on its label. I disagree. It should be 100%. I digress. This delicious liquid is a red blend of 83% Cab Sav, 6% Petite Verdot, 6% Merlot and 5% Malbec. The punch in your face nose made me leap back and scream wow! Huge dark fruit notes. The mouthfeel is rich, chewy, intense. Complex as Willy Wonka’s never ending gobstopper. Imagine getting hit with all of these notes at once. Currant, Blackberry, cherry, bell pepper, olive, spice, oak, vanilla, molasses, plum, smoke, toast, tar, mocha, leather, vanilla, tobacco and chocolate. The finish goes on for ever. This is an OMG wine. One of the biggest and boldest from Napa. It drinks like a wine ten times the cost. Buy it. Drink it. Love it. I did. 4000 cases. Aged 20 month in 85% new oak. ABV 14.9% – Keith Ian
