It is a dark interior gave us a a nineteen seventies flashback but the food is twentieth century delicious.  The food, like its companion restaurant, Saiko-I is meticulously and artfully presented. Yakitori does not offer the hibachi tables that Saiko-I does but instead it offers Robata grill selections. The Robata grilled shiitake mushrooms $5, were meaty and filling. Crab dumplings were deep fried purse shaped morsels in a delicious sauce on a bed of avocado. The roast duck wrap is a duck filled egg roll or scallion pancake like wrapper, $13. It was absolutely delish. The sashimi of fresh salmon wrapped around Asian pear bites with a truffle oil sauce was very tasty. Steamed Peking duck dumplings $11, were satisfying and stuffed with plenty of duck. Robata grilled lamb chops were tender and divine. Blue crab goyza $12, a stack of lump crab served on avocado was a refreshing treat. Kobe beef with vegetables was tender and gamey. The highlight of this wonderful meal were the Kumamoto oysters, 3 for $12. They were the best we ever ate. Cold, taste of the Japanese sea’s salinity, perfect sauce. Try these with one of the many saki selections that Joyce can pair with any of your food selections. So visit Yakitori Sake House, for lunch, happy Hour or dinner.
