Anthony’s Coal Oven Pizza, Delray. I have said in the past that I am not a fan of the pizza at Anthony’s. It reminds me of frozen pizza in consistency and presentation. It is definitely not a NY style pizza. But that doesn’t matter. It’s been years since I ate at an Anthony’s. But it was happy hour and I happened to be in Delray. You can not beat the HH deals here. Two meatballs, ricotta and bread for $4! Also wings are $5 for five (dry as a bone) and if you must a bar pizza for $6. Various drink specials from $2-3 off regular prices of beer and wine by the glass. Monday is half off all Italian bottles of wine. Anyway back to the meatballs. These meatballs were perfect. Perfect size, soft and tender on the tongue. The gravy is a puree of tomatoes. I love that. No tomato chunks or skins for me please! The dollop of ricotta is a necessary item to really enjoy meatballs. I was so happy with the HH meatballs that I went to the West Boca Raton location the next day. Unfortunately I did not have the same experience. The meatballs were not the same. They were burned on the bottom and served with cold gravy. I did not complain because I scarfed down the hot meatballs in 60 seconds. But it did ruin my bread dipping experience. If Anthony’s can get its chain stores consistent in food prep they will definitely have one of the tastiest and best priced meatball deals in Florida.-Twinkie LaRue
