The American Fine Wine Competition had its Third Annual Zinner Dinner on Tuesday December 19th. What is a Zinner Dinner you ask? It is a four course casual sit down dinner featuring Zinfandel wines. This year’s venue was at the Winemakers Table in Delray Beach, FL from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm. There were over twenty people in attendance. Each paying the $105 ticket price. Shari Gherman the President of the competition was a welcoming host to first time attendees and regular members. Hors d’oeuvres were circulated for about an hour. The four course dinner served was, Risotto Primavera laced with zinfandel and tomatoes, Grouper Zivornese, Black Angus Slow Cooked Beef Brisket, zinfandel reduction and Farm Fresh Veggies, Zin-fused dessert by Shari. Many bottles of top zinfandel wine bottles were open for tasting during the cocktail hour. Also available were $40 raffle tickets for sale to win a bottle of wine with values of $40 and up. A great deal since monies went to support the Autism Society of Florida. People were all friendly and talkative. An enjoyable evening for all. Even those that came solo easily made new friends. The venue was the perfect size with a gorgeous gaudy interior that marries well with food and wine events. My favorite wine of the evening was 2013 Michael David’s Lust Lodi. Other wines included, 2013 Ravenswood Old Hill Sonoma Valley, 2014 Robert Biale Limerick Lane RRV, 2014 VGS Chateau Pontelle Alta Vista Vineyard Sonoma Mountain, 2014 Scott Harvey 1869 Amador, 2013 ellipsis RRV, 2014 Joseph Cellars DCV, 2014 Ledson Howell Mtn, 2014 St Sophia Lodi, 2014 Benovia Sonoma, 2013 Tizona Bokisch Lodi, 2013 Dane Cellars Sonoma Valley, 2014 Lucchesi View Forever Vineyard Sierra Foothills, 2014 Judd’s Hill Mokelumne River Lodi, 2013 Old Ghost Lodi, and the 2013 Cast.
A wonderful time was had by all. Looking forward to the 2018 Zinner Dinner!- Keith Ian
